Mumbai: Seven Indians including Asha Bhosle, Sania Mirza and actress Kamini Kaushal has made it to the elite list of BBC’s top 100 women of 2015, Indians feel it is as a prestigious thing.
Each year BBC chooses its top 100 women based on various categories. The high-profile women will be honoured in an event. From India, this year, Singer Asha Bhosle, tennis star Sania Mirza and actress Kamini Kaushal has made it to the elite list of Top 100 women.
Apart from them, entrepreneurs Smriti Nagpal and Kanika Tekriwal, farmer Rimppi Kumari and campaigner Mumtaz Shaikh were also selected. The 100 women are selected from various fields ranging from Politics to Science to Journalism to entertainment all over the world.
Asha Bhosle started her career in 1943 and has completed singing countless songs in 1000 movies. Similarly actress Kamini Kaushal is always known as Vivien Leigh of her generation. She has also acted over 100 movies and she is already the first Indian to win Cannes Film Festival award in 1946.
Sania Mirza recently won Wimbledon and US open women’s doubles this year which easily bagged her a spot. Even though Kanika was diagnosed with cancer she established a place in India for Private jet and helicopter charters. An interview on the ladies form India will be aired in BBC network this week.
