India’s Forest Cover has increased up to 21.34% of Geographical area of the country; the tree cover also was improved 5081 sq km in the previous two years. The government is focussing on encroachment of the wood and others.

India’s entire forest, as well as tree cover, has improved 5081 sq km in the past two years. This calculation has been taken by the latest Forest Report (ISFR 2015) of Indian State. The Forest Survey of India (FSI) has released this news by the Union Minister of the environment, forest and climate change, Prakash Javadekar.

The geographical area including all lands of forest covers having a 10% tree density and more, and have the minimum is one hectare. Based on a sample exercise the tree cover has estimated and the report of that tells that comprises tree patches in the form of linear plantations, block plantations and scattered trees less than a hectare.

According to the report, forest cover has increased by 3,775 sq km and a total of it is 7, 01,673 sq km. Here, the country’s geographical area (GA) is 21.34 per cent. Tree cover has increased by 1,306 sq km to the entire 9, 2,572 sq km or 2.82 per cent of country’s GA.

Here, 112 sq km to 4,740 sq km of increment has happened on countries mangrove cover. “The government will focus on reducing the encroachment of the wood for fuel and bringing LPG connections to every household” added Javadekar.
