IndiGo Airlines Hikes Pilot, Cabin Crew Pay by 8 and 16 Percent

Mumbai, July 6: IndiGo, an Indian budget airline company recently announced hike in pay. As per new scheme, Pilots salary increased by 8 and Cabin Crew by 16 percent.

India’s largest airline by market share IndiaGo has announced hike details of its pilots and cabin crew. It has around 1,448 pilots and 97 planes, the average increase in salaries for pilots is 8 percent and for cabin crew is 16 percent. It may differ for different categories of pilots, it has announced increments two months ago for its non-crew employees and last week for pilots and cabin crew employees.

As per source with this increments, IndiGo has become the best paymaster among Indian carriers. As per hikes, now a first officer will get Rs.261 lakh for his specified 50 hours for month and if he can files for 90 hours per month he can get Rs. 3.3 lakh. A senior officer will get Rs. 3.75 lakh for 70 hours of flying and Rs.4.3 lakh for 90 hours flying.

A captain will get Rs. 6.01 lakh for 70 hours per month and 7 lakh for 90 hours, for a cabin attendant salary is Rs.31, 000 per month for 40 hours. A senior cabin attendant will get Rs. 40,000, a lead cabin attendant will get Rs.60, 000 and the check crew will get Rs.90, 000 for 40 hours of flying. And they will get salaries between Rs, 45,000 to more than one lakh for bonuses 90 hours per month.

India’s biggest airline IndiGo is trying to match their employees’ salaries with rivals, as a part of this it has given an annual crew bonus to its pilots and flight attendants earlier this year. In May, SpaceJet improved their employee salaries by 10 percent for pilots who fly with Boeing 737 planes and 20 percent for those who fly with Bombardier Q400 planes.

Spokesperson of IndiGo airline said that “the airline will soon match their employee salaries with peers in the Industry and it gives the highest bonus than its competitors for pilots who fly overtime”
