ISRO Chairman as Kiran Kumar Alur Seelin for the Next 3 Years

Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar, the Director of Ahmedabad based Satellite Applications Centre is appointed as the ISRO Chairman for the upcoming three years.

News from New Delhi reports that Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar has been appointed as the Chairman of ISRO who was formerly the Director of Satellite Applications Centre, Ahmedabad.

Kiran Kumar is to occupy the place of K S Radhakrishnan who got retirement on 31st December. It is well known Radhakrishnan got his retirement after the Mars Mission and GSLV rockets launch. For time being, Shailesh Nayak who is the secretary in Ministry of Earth Sciences took charge for a time period of month before Kiran Kumar was announced as chief.

The Secretary of Space department is the Space Commission and ISRO Chairman.

Department of Personnel and Training said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Kumar as Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Space Commission on re-employment on contract basis, for a tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post”.

Kiran Kumar Study and Career

Kiran Kumar, the ISRO chairman finished his graduation from National College of Bengaluru in 1971. Latest he obtained Degree in Masters of Electronics in 1973 from Bangalore University. And also from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, he completed M.Tech in Physical Engineering.

Several payloads from Bhaskara (1979) to Chandrayaan-1 (2008) missions were under the control of Kumar when he joined ISRO design and development in 1975.
