ISRO IRNSS 1D Launch | First Navigation Satellite Live by March

ISRO IRNSS 1D: ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) is gearing up to launch a new navigational satellite named “IRNSS 1D” by March or later. The primary plan is to create India’s own navigation system on equality with GPS of US.

Indian Space Research Organization is rolling up to launch IRNSS 1D satellite this year. This will be the fourth satellite sending it into space to create country navigation system i.e., having Global Positioning System (GPS). The mission starts on 16th January later within 2 months the components from other ISRO labs have to reach in Sriharikota. ISRO senior officially stated that it is likely to be launched after 15th March.

In seven satellites, IRNSS 1D is considered as the fourth in the series. The first three satellites IRNSS 1A, IRNSS 1B, IRNSS 1C are send off into orbit in 2013. All the three IRNSS series were launched from Sriharikota on July 1, April 4 and October 16 in 2013 respectively. The national space agency is strategizing to launch to put in place the IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System).

“The other launches also relate to the IRNSS series with the IRNSS1E and IRNSS1-F satellites to be launched before the year end” he added.

The mission to be accomplish by this year and targeted at a total cost of Rs. 1420 crore. IRNSS satellite consists of 3-4 satellites in GEO stationary and in inclined geosynchronous orbits about 36,000 km above the Earth.

Very soon India will be joining into the list to create its own local services (navigation system) when its IRNSS missions are completed successfully. Initially US have launched its NAVSTAR Global Positioning System for military purpose. Russia is behind the Global Orbiting Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and China on its own uses two similar systems.

Primary idea of designing this IRNSS is to provide precise position information service to users in the country. It would provide 2 types of services one is “Standard Positioning Service” which is provided to all the users and other one is “Restricted Service” (an encrypted service) is provided only to the authorized users.
