Telangana, July 1: JNTU Hyderabad rejected affiliation to 25 engineering colleges for admissions of 2015-16 session due to poor infrastructure and insufficient faculty. It removed them from list of counselling colleges.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University Hyderabad has cancelled affiliation to about 25 colleges in Telangana state due to lack of proper facilities and faculty. As per university, around 43, 000 seats are removed from the admission process, only 75, 635 seats are available for counselling process 2015 which is expected to begin from July first week for this academic year.
Vice-Chancellor of university, Shailaja Ramaiyer explained that, there are total 290 private and government engineering colleges across the state. Only 245 colleges applied for affiliation and remaining voluntarily did not participate in the affiliation process. Out of 245 colleges, JNTU Hyderabad has approved affiliation to 220 colleges and remaining 25 colleges are found to have violated university norms with regard to faculty and infrastructure. Hence those 25 colleges have been barred from the counselling process for this academic year.
University also charged some private colleges for showing fake faculty during the inspections and in some cases it was also found that M.Tech students were presented as faculty members. Officials warned colleges that university would continue its inspection in the forthcoming year too.
JNTU Hyderabad Quality Cell
JNTU Hyderabad is planning to set up quality cell to continuously assess the colleges for their faculty and infrastructure with rating. The university will soon upload affiliate college list with ranking at main site, which will be helpful for students while choosing their choices.
For this academic year, around 90, 556 candidates have been qualified in entrance examination, but there are only 75, 635 seats available among all private, government and university levels. Before inspection, there were 1.12 lakh seats available, but this year over 62,000 seats in the convener quota and 22, 000-ood in the management quota are available. It seems like for this academic year, seats are insufficient for qualified candidates due to the inspection process.
