Karnataka Govt Rejected Engineering 2nd Counselling in Admissions Process

Karnataka: Government officials decided not to conduct second counselling for admissions into various Engineering courses this academic year.

Government of Karnataka announced latest news regarding engineering counselling and as per reports the Govt said no to 2nd counselling for engineering courses. Karnataka Examination Authority already put a proposal on 2nd round counselling few days back but the Government has rejected that.

Karnataka officials kept a side the proposal of KEA for arranging 2nd round counselling for unfilled seats. On wednesday, a senior official from KEA confirmed that, Govt rejected 2nd round counselling to fill vacant seats in engineering colleges.

As per reports, nearly 6000 seats are not filled in first phase of counselling and after that only the application was put by KEA. July 31st is the last date for counselling to various engineering courses of colleges in the State. Last year also KEA held second round of counselling after taking courts permission, but this year it is rejected.

The rejection of counselling has an advantage for private colleges because unfilled seats under Government colleges will come under Management Quota of private institutes. August 15th is the last date for disclosing students under the Management Quota.

In 2013-14 session there are nearly 35,000 seats were unfilled. During 2014-15, at least 10,000 seats were unfilled even after the special round of counselling. This year also KEA is expecting the number to go up.
