Karnataka KSLSA Decides to Set Up Farmers Counselling Centers

Karanataka: KSLSA, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority suggested the state government to set up a Farmers Counselling Center (FCC) for counselling farmers to avoid suicide at peak times.

The Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) has suggested the Karnataka state government to set up farmers’ counselling centers (FCC) with trained personnel in every gram panchayats to give necessary guidance by identify the indebted farmers who have suicidal tendencies. N.K. Patil, judge of High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of the KSLSA has suggested the government to set up a FCC with a trained personnel and that FCC group should contain a social worker, agricultural scientist, doctor, psychologist and the elected representative of the respective gram panchayat.

He suggested the government that, the FCC mechanism at gram panchayat level should be able to identify indebted famers who have suicidal tendencies and the group should counsel the farmers to be strong.

Justice Patil is also said that, KSLSA is also likely to organise a national-level monthly Lok Adalat on 8th August across the state to take up litigations related to arguments with banks. As per information the Lok Adalat will deal about the bank arguments related to loans, dishonouring of cheques and others.

As per information total registered cases are 30, 475 out of which 10,799 cases still in pending state at the courts and 19, 676 are pre-litigation cases related to bank disputes were settled during adalat which was held across state in the month of February in this year.
