Chennai: Latest trend in Kollywood is with the film making with sequel movies, recent releases Aranmanai, Endhiran, Singam, etc. are super hits and their sequels are being planned to fill bags.
Tamil Cinema Industry must be either running out of stories or face a period where movies don’t get a good story. These days most movies are planning to have sequels. Even Producers are showing interested in making franchises. Raghava Lawrence started this trend with ‘Muni’ series. As the sequel was a success he started to do the same. Now following this, many movies are made in similar lines. Some of the movies which are made as franchises are listed below,
Aranmanai 2
Sundar.C directs the movie as a sequel to the Super Hit movie ‘Aranmanai’. The sequel features Siddharth in male lead role and Trisha in Female lead role. The director wants to make sequel bigger and better and recently a huge set of 120 feet length was erected. He is also planning to craft the movie with better visual effects.
- Endhiran 2
Shankar’s dream project came true in 2010. Now the director is ready with the sequel. He is directing the project with utmost care. Right now pre-production works are happening. LYCA is producing the movie with huge budget. We hear that the movie will also be made in 3D.
- Singam 3
Surya’s hit franchise ‘Singam’ has entered the third part in the franchise. The movie is going to end with a trilogy. The third part will go on floors right from November. Shrutihaasan has been roped in the team for the third part. The actors were also retained from its predecessors. We also hear that Hari is planning to shoot most of the movie in overseas.
