Land Rover Discovery Sport by Jaguar Land Rover India on Monday launched the 2-litre petrol variant  at a starting price of Rs 56.50 lakhs.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) owned by the Tata Motors has admitted that the Diesel ban in Delhi has caused a few problems for the company in regarding the sales. Hoping to overcome the same, TATA motors has launched a petrol variant –  Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Land Rover Discovery Sport is launched with a starting price of Rs. 56.50 lakhs ex-show room, Delhi. JLR India president Rohit Suri told that the Supreme court ban on the SUVs with more than 2000 cc capacity of diesel engines has made the company to introduce the petrol variant much sooner than planned.

Earlier Mercedes-Benz decided to pause it’s on investments in India due to a diesel ban. But JLR is not following the footsteps of Benz. He also added that the latest launch of petrol engine will be for all models available in the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Land Rover SUV price ranges in India as Range Rover with Rs 2.12 Crores, Range Rover Sport with Rs.1.18 Crores, Discovery Sport at Rs 47.6 lakh and new Range Rover Evoque at Rs 48.60 lakhs. Suri stated that Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XE launch of petrol engines has a positive response in the Indian market. There is also a growth of 12% which figures to 1000 units sale when compared to the previous year for the company.
