Liquor Shops will not be closed in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana dismissed the Liquor Shops case in Tamil Nadu and said the court will not interfere in this issue.
There has been a plea in Madras High court regarding the closure of liquor shops. It has to be noted that Tamil Nadu government themselves run retail liquor shops under the name TASMAC. Already there have been lots of opposition against the closure of TASMAC shops.

Recently a PIL was filed by advocate Kanimozhi Mathi regarding the closure of TASMAC for next two months due to the floods. Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana dismissed the case and they stated the court cannot intervene in this issue.

The petitioner said Chennai is facing more trouble due to floods and the volunteers who are involving in flood relief distribution work face major threats of dealing with drunks. The drunkards have hindered distribution of relief material and created fear among relief workers.

The petitioner said on closing all Tasmac shops in all flood affected areas for next two months will bring down the Anti-social behavior. But the court has denied the plea and this has shocked the petitioner.
