Mumbai: Ace director Madhur Bhandarkar will now receive an honorary Doctorate in Arts from Ahmedabad’s Rai University for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Madhur Bhandarkar is an Indian director, Script writer and Producer. He made his directorial debut with ‘Trishakti’. He received National Film Awards for Page 3 (2005) and Traffic Signal (2007). He also got several awards for Fashion (2008).
He also got the privilege to be the special Guest of Honour for the First International Yoga Day celebrations at the United Nations in New York on June 21st. Mr.Bhandarkar will now receive an honorary Doctorate in Arts from Ahmedabad’s Rai University for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Regarding this, he said, “I owe my success and recognition to movies. These kind of honours are more responsibilities which push me to do better work. We want to honour this as it is a reward for my hard work.”
The spokesperson of Rai University said, “We want to honour the hard work and commitment of the director. He is from Middle class and Non-film background. He has carved a niche for himself through cinema and this for his sheer perseverance and focus.”
