Sweden: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s 2014 movie Mary Kom which was directed by Omung Kumar was nominated for Stockholm International Film Festival Junior (SIFFJ) in Sweden and now it won best film and Bronze Horse award, which is highest honor of the Festival. The jury for junior section of the SIFFJ consists of children from the age of 9 to 17 years.

Mary Kom film is a biopic of legendary Indian boxer Mary Kom, who won female world boxing championship for five times and Olympic bronze medals. The movie is about Mary Kom life story from her childhood in India to her victory at 2008 world boxing championships. The Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra played lead role as boxer Mary Kom in this film.

The director made this film with Rs.150 millions budget and it was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. The film was released on 5th September 2014 and received positive appraisals from both critics and audiences.

The film director Omung Kumar expressed his feelings for this award as, “This award is a very big thing for us because now it will bridge the gap between Sweden and India. We can now distribute our films over here.” And he added that this film will be screened at the Indian Film Festival in next month by Indian Embassy.
