India: Mission Indradhanush programme has been launched by Municipal Administration and Minority Affairs Minister Qamarul Islam to reduce morbidity and mortality rate in India.
Municipal Administration and Minority Affairs Minister Qamarul Islam launched one of the leading programmes of union government Mission Indradhanush. The programme was launched in five districts on Tuesday to ensure immunisation of children and pregnant women. As many as 22,657 children and 5,481 pregnant women would be covered under this programme. This mission would help bring down infant and maternal mortality rates, the minister said.
Mission Indradhanush vaccines would be provided for diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B and antigens. Four rounds of vaccinations will be given between April and July, with each round having seven consecutive working days beginning on 7th of the month.
The mission in selected districts would help to reduce morbidity and mortality. Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain launched mission in Yadgir district where 7,338 children and 2,726 pregnant women had been identified. Deputy Commissioner’s S.Sasikant Senthil launched mission in Raichu district. As per officials of Health and Family Welfare department 474 vaccination centres in 647 villages had been established across the district apart from 83 mobile-centres.
P.T Parmeshwar Naik, Minister of state for Labour and Ballari district has launched the mission in their district. As per Health department 1,273 pregnant women and 5,006 children will be covered under this programme at Ballari. 254 vaccination centres have been opened across districts to make the programme successful.
Raghavendra Hitnal, MLA launched the immunisation drive at koppal to cover unvaccinated/partially vaccinated children to protect them from deadly diseases. Srikant Basur, district health officer said, nearly 4,443 children will be with help of 240 teams in the district.
