Maharashtra: Actors Nana Patekar and Makrand Anaspure have donated Rs 15,000 each to 113 widows of the formers who had committed suicide in the drought-hit Maharashtra.
National award winning actor Nana Patekar who is well known for Bollywood and Marathi cinema and a popular face of Marathi Cinema Makrand Anaspure has donated Rs 15,000 each to 113 widows of the formers who had committed suicide in the drought-hit Maharashtra.
Many of the formers at Maharashtra are struggling with crop losses, as per information over 660 formers committed suicide due to drought-hit as compared to 628 last year. Highest number of people from Beed (179) have committed for suicide followed by Osamanabad with 103 and Latur with 64.
Bollywood well-known actor Nana Patekar along with popular face in Marathi cinema Makarand Anaspure has donated funds to help the families and the actor Nana Pakekar said that, Drought is a natural disaster, we can’t blame the government or any authorities.
National award winning actor Patekar wished that, popular leaders form various parties to come together to help the formers. The actor also feels that there should be some price regularisation for the former’s produce.
When an actor asked about what gave him satisfaction is either winning awards or doing charity works, he answered that, “To be honest, going to these places and watching the young widows touch my feet to get the Rs 15,000 cheque is very painful for me. But we must keep fighting.”
