NASA to Develop Deep Space Exploration with NextSTEP

United States: US based National Aeronautics and Space Administration or popularly known as NASA is planning to team-up with NextSTEP to develop deep space exploration. NextSTEP is the combination of 12 “Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships”.

This advancement includes necessary exploration potential which can enable industrial endeavors in human missions to deep space destination like Mars. Through this joint venture, all 12 associated firms need to prepare their own ideas and technology expansion projects.

NextSTEP Project Statistics

Three NextSTEP advanced propulsion projects are expected to cost around $400,000 to $3.5 Million annually. Coming to duration, in total a three year performance period is required for this process.

Coming to the next seven habitat projects, they are scheduled for a 12 month of preliminary performance periods. With an average estimation of $400,000 to $1 million it includes learning and developmental efforts as well as providing potential for further steps.

However, no particular information is there regarding the remaining projects. All those are expected to be fixed prized one.

Deep Space Exploration Statements – NASA

Associate administrator for human exploration at NASA, William Gerstenmaier reported in his statement that, “Commercial partners were chosen for their technical ability to mature key technologies and their commitment to the potential applications of both government and private sector uses.”

Jason Crusan from NASA further added that, “This form of public-private partnership helps NASA stimulate the US space industry while expanding the frontiers of knowledge, capabilities and opportunities in space.”
