China, June 23: Officials on Monday inaugurated a new route into Tibet for Indian pilgrims via Nathu la to visit one of the holiest sites in both Hinduism and Buddhism.
China on Monady opened a new safer and more convenient route for Indians who want difficult Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. As per the official Xinhua news agency reports through this route the first group of Indian pilgrims who planned for a 12 day trip to Mount Kailash entered into Tibet via Nathu la in mid-morning.
The opening of the second route through Himalayan pass of Nathu La in Sikkim is 4,000 meters above of sea level was agreed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping and it was official announced by the Indian prime mister Narendra Modi during his visit to China. This is addition route to the existing Lipulekh pass which was badly damaged in the Uttarakhad floods in 2013. Now the new safe route will allow the more Indians to undertake the pilgrimage.
As per reports total 44 Indian pilgrims entered into the Tibet on Monday as the first batch of the annual yatra though this new convenient route and those were warmly welcomed by the Chinese official in Tibet.
The new route through Nathu La will enable comfortable travel for Indian pilgrims by buses, mainly for elderly Indian citizens, though conditions in the Himalayan region with less oxygen levels still pose a challenge.
