The National Green Tribunal has ready to punish with fine Rs. 5000/- to the persons who use the plastic material in Chandigarh. The NGT has taken this kind of decision for saving the use of plastic to protect the environment.
The NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar ordered and said that if any person found plastic items such as storing, purchasing, dealing with or distributing it shall be responsible for paying the environmental recompense rate of Rs 5,000 per event.
Chandigarh Rishi Dev Anand has issued the directions at the time of hearing of the cause. He alleged the failure of gross in the waste management system and delay the solving the problem of garbage disposal in the city.
The tribunal was moved by the Rishi Dev Anand for seeking the directions to take immediate actions to the disposal of the garbage and waste management system in Chandigarh for making normal the environment.
In 2008, the Chandigarh administration has imposed the ban on manufacturing, importing, storing, selling or transporting polyethene or plastic carry bags significantly. This happened under the act of Environmental protection 1986, but sadly failed to enforcement.
