Chennai: Oscar is the biggest film award in India, and this year it came for a Marathi movie Court, everyone expected that either ‘Kakka Muttai’, ‘Kutram Kadithal’ or ‘Baahubali’ would bag the position.
Oscars is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony that is started in the year 1929 at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The award has always been a dream for Tamil Cinema Industry. However A.R.Rahman bagged two Oscars. But he won it for Hindi movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. But he was the first Tamilian to do so.
Recently it was expected that ‘Kakka Muttai’, ‘Kutram Kadithal’ or ‘Baahubali’ might bag OSCARS. But yesterday the dream was shattered. An official confirmation was made that Marathi movie ‘Court’ alone will enter into the Oscars. The highly expected ‘Baahubali’, ‘Kakka Muttai’ and ‘Kutram Kadithal’ were no more in the race.
As ‘Kakka Muttai’ and ‘Kutram Kadithal’ won National award, the movie was expected to get OSCARS. But in the end none of them even entered the OSCAR race. It was said that there has been a huge debate by the team and finally they decided to send ‘Marathi’ movie ‘Court’ alone to the Oscars representing India.
‘Court’ is a Marathi movie directed by Chaitanya Tamhane. The movie is a drama genre and shows the happenings inside a court room. Vira Sathidar, Vivek Gomber, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Usha Bane, Shirish Pawar were part of the cast. The movie already won lots of film festival awards. The movie was showered with praises and accolades.
