TRAI found that more than 100 channels have crossed that limit of advertisement time for an hour. The main time of it is within 12 minutes and broadcasters have asked them for providing the data.

TRAI which is the regulator of a broadcasting sector has observed that above 100 private TV channels showed advertisements more than the limit of advertisement. The actual time of showing the ad is hourly minimum within or equal 12 minutes.  The main time, the level of airing which wants it was restricted.

TRAI said that as per the report on an average hourly duration of ads, at the time of essential hours such as between 7 pm to 10 pm from 29th June to 27th Sep 2015, the ad will not be longer than 12 minutes. Now, 27 pay news channels and 112 pay non-news channels airing adds more than 12 minutes.

These channels have showed advertisements such as self-promotions as well as business for more than 20 minutes per hour in several cases.

“Its report is based on the data which is submitted by the broadcasters,” said TRAI. The controller added that other channels were continuing the ads less than 12 minutes of average duration time per hour.

Prohibited of the showing ads more than 12 minutes regulation to the broadcasters came up in 2013 by TRAI. The decision was not liked by the Broadcasters so that they challenged it in Delhi High Court. An official said this information, and the actions will not be taken by them until final order come.
