KCR Lays Foundation for Palamuru Lift Irrigation Project

Telangana, June 12: Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project is laid foundation by CM, KCR with a budget of Rs.35,000 which will lift90 TMC ft water from the Srisailam Reservoir. And during flood days, it helps in lifting at the rate of 1.5 TMC ft per day.

Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Chief Minister laid foundation stone for Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project yesterday, Thursday, June 11. This is the first major irrigation project that is taken up by the government that is formed 1 year ago. The project is started with an aim to irrigate 10 lakh acres of land some of the districts like in Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy.

In addition to the irrigation, this is for providing drinking water and to fulfill industrial needs in the heart city of Telangana, Hyderabad. The Lift Irrigation Project is designed and planned in such a way that 90 TMC ft water can be lifted from the foreshore of Srisailam Reservoir. When considered during floods, this will help in lifting 1.5 TMC ft of water.

In the Mahabubnagar District, it is promised that irrigation facility to all sectors of people will be provided in the coming four years of planning and management. KCR told that the people who are affected by the project need to cooperate with the Government for progress of the project in a vast way.

“Telangana’s son is giving you the word to take care of you and even to show alternative farmland under the project elsewhere”, K. Chandrasekhar Rao said.

In the meeting, CM said that three thandas will be displaced with the Karivena reservoir. He added that govt does no harm to people and for this loss, people will be constructed with 2BHK houses under the scheme of Government projects. A job each in the families that are affected by the project will be given in the commencement of work process.
