Chennai: Kollywood actor Jai starring Pugazh movie is based on a real life incident, Surabhi does the female lead role and ManiMaran directed the Tamil cinema.

Jai was last seen in the movie ‘Vadacurry’ and later he anticipated release of ‘Tamil Selvanum Thaniyaar Anjalum’. But the movie never got released in Tamil version due to unforeseen reasons. However the Telugu version was released and it had a good run.

Now the actor expects release of ‘Pugazh’. ‘Ivan Vera Maathiri’ fame Surabhi does the female lead role in this venture. The combo of Vivek-Merwin has composed music and ‘Udhayam NH4’ fame ManiMaran is the director. Sushant Prasad of Film Department has produced the movie and Trisha’s former boy friend Varun Manian bagged the rights under his Varun Manian’s Radiance Media banner.

Kaurnas, RJ Balaji and Rajani are part of the cast. Velraj has handled cinematography. In his recent interview, Director Manimaran says, “The story is based on ‘Vaalagabad’ near vellore. It is my native place. We had a playground near that place.

Due to dirty politics we lost that ground. Now the story is made on that. It is a real life story. I have made this as a clear entertainer. Karunas will be seen as a counselor and Lyric writer Piraisoodan will be seen as a communist.”
