Hyderabad: After two decades, Ravindra Bharathi auditorium of Hyderabad will become a venue for screening world cinema from October.

Ravindra Bharathi a Hyderabad based auditorium will become the venue for screening world movies from this October month. The cultural department of auditorium has decided to begin the screening of movie on the second floor of the mini-hall from the beginning of Bathukamma festival.

As per official information international films will be screened at Ravindra Bharathi on every Sunday at 4:00 pm form this October month. Short films, Japanese, German and other award winning films will be screened here for public viewing.

Earlier in 1995, films had been screened on the second floor of auditorium, due the disuse of mini-hall the projector was completely damaged. After two decades the auditorium is again ready to screening movie for public. Officials of auditorium are in the process of re-modifying the mini-hall and planning to purchase a DVD projector for screening movies. After screening the movie discussions will be held on the screened movies to support the aspiring filmmakers to learn the ropes.

According to sources, auditorium will be the place for new ideas and creative filmmakers, it will not screen the commercial stuff. The official of auditorium has decided to screen world cinemas especially other than Hollywood including Korean, French, Iranian, Chinese and other films. The first movie to be screened at Ravindra Bharathi after two decades will be Shyam Benegal’s Ankur, which was shot in Ranga Reddy district.
