Telangana: The leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) proposed the government to change Andhra leader’s statues with the stalwarts of Telangana and also recommended to rename institutions and installations.
Former MLC N. Laxman Rao proposed resolution in the name of Telangana cultural renaissance and wanted to know necessity to have statues and names of Andhra leaders who had suppressed the demand for separate statehood instead of having the statues of stalwarts of Telangana. Hence leaders of ruling party TRS are making controversial statements for how the culture, language and traditions of Telangana were insulted by the Andhra rulers previously. The party leaders also proposed the construction of multi-purpose cultural centers in all district headquarters and town halls along with developing libraries to promote Telangana literature.
However the party president K.Chandrasekhar Rao did not make any comments about this resolution. In a meeting, Nagender Goud who is president of the party in Ranga Reddy district mentioned names of KBR Park, NTR Park and Telugu University in this resolution.
The party plenary mentioned for development of Hyderabad city, mainly GHMC elections, modernization of police, reviving Musi River, cleaning of Hussainsagar Lake, improving transportation with metro rail construction of satellite cities and others on this resolution.
Mr. KCR commented about this i.e. “Hussainsagar used to make up for the lack a sea but the Andhra rulers have made it a drainage pond. The government is committed to restore its past glory”. And the chief minister has been planning to take up 230 crore plantation in the next 3 years to make state as “Haritha Haaram” by covering one-third of the geography. Total 12 resolutions were adopted during this meeting.
