Sarbananda Sonowal, the sports minister proclaimed that the recommendation for Saina Nehwal for awarding Padman Bhushan title in 2015 will be taken in mind as they received the letter on Aug 9th ’14 from Badminton Association of India.
On last Sunday, the sports minister, Sarbananda Sonowal gave an ideal statement that they received a recommendation letter from the Badminton Association of India on the month of August last year by saying that they are supporting Siana Nehwal for having the most prestigious award in India, Padma Bhushan. They even said in the letter that she is really worthy to receive the title.
Because of that, from last few days, they are even discussing about the same thing. The sports ministry even proclaimed that they will keep a deep eye on Siana Nehwal’s name while opting for the award in the national wide for this year, 2015. The president of BAI, Akhilesh Dasgupta said that he himself went to his office to transmit the copy of the letter when he had come to discern that the ministry had not received the original one.
“Our recommendation was sent on August 9. We also have an acknowledgment from the sports ministry for it,” Dasgupta told to the reporters of Times of India. “Saina called me to say that she was deeply hurt that the ministry had rejected her application for the civilian honour. She said she got two versions from the ministry. One was that they hadn’t received the letter. The other was that they didn’t consider her name and decided to go with Sushil. To be safe, I asked my office to send a copy of the letter to the ministry.”
