The Koran manufacturer Samsung has decided to separate OLED production business from the LCD production. This decision has come in the vague situation of LCD business.
The major reason for separating OLED production from the LCD production ca be viewed in two different angles. One is the tough competition from the Chinese manufacturers who offer LCDs at a cheaper price. Secondly, the company seem to be in a mood of exit from the LCD market.
It is reported that Samsung LCD business is less profitable and the company intends to exit from the manufacturing slowly. As of now, the LCD production is on for HDTV lineup. Perhaps, OLED’s business is growing its strength for small and mid-sized displays.
Samsung is the world’s largest OLED manufacturer and a key supplier for the entire products of Apple. The company has won the 2017 Apple’s latest iPhone OLED display order which is heard to be radical in design. The new design is a curved edge OLED display which conceals Touch ID fingerprint sensor, camera, and speaker within itself.
Apart from this, Apple also placed a bulk order of OLED displays for its products such as smart watches, iPads and others. On the other side, Apple also has placed the order of LCD Panels from Samsung itself for its other products which include some of the iPhone and iPad versions . Other than Apple, many other manufacturers wearable device’s OLED display screens are queued in the Samsung’s supply chain.
