Samuthirakani Said He Missed to Act with Late Balachander

Chennai: Director cum actor Samuthirakani in an interview said that he missed a chance to act with Late Balachander and it is his bad luck for not getting an opportunity like that.

Samuthirakani forayed into Kollywood with movies like ‘Unnai Saranadainthen’ and ‘Neranja Manasu’. The films bombed at Box-office and he later moved to serials. He also worked in Radhika’s Radaan and K.Balachander’s Minpimbangal and did as assistant to every one of them.

When he made a comeback, he directed ‘Nadodigal’ and the movie was a huge success. ‘Poraali’, ‘Nimirnthu Nil’ took him to the next league of directors. Later as an actor, he acted as a rigid cop in the movie ‘Eesan’. He did role of a Goverment school teacher in ‘Saatai’ and got lots of praises.

As an actor he earned a good reputation in short period and chose scripts wisely. Recently in ‘Paayum Puli’ he did role of antagonist and a bad politician and evolved as a good performer. He was showered with praises all over and in a recent interview, revealed that he missed an acting chance with Director K. Balachander.

Samuthirakani said, “I was called by KB sir once and when I went to meet him, he said that I am evolving as an actor and he said my eyes are powerful. He also said he has a script and I have to act in the movie. But before the project materialized he had health issues and he kicked the bucket.”
