Hyderabad June, 8: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager P.K. Srivastava has inaugurated first project Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model mechanized laundry on Sunday in Hyderabad.

Supreme Laundry Service Joint Venture Private Limited has established BOOT model 12-tonne mechanised laundry at Kacheguda railway station. The capacity of laundry is, it will wash 24,000 bed sheets, 12,000 face towels and 12, 000 pillow covers per day by meeting all requirements of Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisions Zone.

Mr. Srivastaa, during the inauguration function said that laundry was started with an aim of improving quality of linen supplied to the passengers. The Mechanised Laundry is first project of South Central Railway under BOOT model and it will boost the other such collaborations on Indian Railways to offer best possible service to the rail passengers.

The mechanised laundry was established with a cost of Rs. 10.50 crore on 20,000 sft railway line on a 15 year lease. Pre-engineered building structure designed in a well-mannered within 10,000 sft with best utilisation of space and scalability for future expansion.

During day time the laundry structure will work with the natural light and ventilation instead of the usage of electrical lighting and to with the help of LED lighting it will save the energy.

The inauguration function was held in the presence of Chief Mechanical Engineer S.Kabeer Ahmad, Additional General Manager Umesh Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division Aruna Singh.
