New Delhi, June 24: Delhi court took cognizance of the complaint against HRD minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday for allegedly providing false information about her educational qualifications.

Delhi court has filed an order against Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani, about her educational qualifications which are given in various election affidavits. Today, Court announced its verdict, that it has received the cognizance of application.

The complaint was filed against Smriti by freelancer writer Ahmer Khan, that she had submitted three different qualification details before the Election Commission during Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha elections. As per details, she stated at the time of Lok Sabha polls in 2004 that she has completed her BA in 1996 from Delhi University. And when participating for Rajya Sabha election from Gujarat in 2004 , she stated that her highest educational qualification was B.Com part I from the School of Correspondence, DU.

The complaint is also filed with her third statement at the time of nomination for Lok Sabha elections in April 2014 year that she had completed Bachelor of Commerce Part-I from School of Open Learning, DU.

Today Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain has taken cognizance of the complaint against Irani under 125 A of Representation of People Act, 1951 for allegedly given different details about her educational qualification and the case is fixed to August 28 for pre-summoning evidence.
