Ford India has called back 40,000 vehicles due to a sudden software malfunction which could affect the safety of the passengers.
The Ford India has recalled about 40,000 cars pertaining to two models – Fifo and Aspire in connection with the software failure in the models. A statement was issued in this regard. Each customer will be intimated individually regarding this. Though in India there is no such recall policy as per law, the American multi-national manufacturer has recalled the software problematic vehicles.
All the distributors were intimated in this regard. The problem will be rectified with free of cost. The vehicles will be made ready for the delivery just within two or three hours of submission. The software malfunctioning may result in the non-opening of the Airbags in the case of the occurrence of the accident.
The company plans to start the process immediately from today itself. The spokesperson of the Ford has reiterated that company wants to maintain its international standard all over the globe. The same is being implemented in India too. The models will be delivered from the dealerships points itself after handing over to them for the rectification.
Apart from this, the Ford India has decided to suspend its sales of Ford Figo and Ford Figo Aspire mini sedan models temporarily. The sales will resume only after the complete rectification is done to the existing models and the future new vehicles will be thoroughly checked before the delivery. This prevention measure will not create a further havoc after the sales. Such incidents are rare in the automobile industry.
