Chennai: Tamil horror movie Sowkarpettai is going to release by next week, it features Srikanth and Raai Laxmi in lead roles and made under John Max and Jones banner Shalom Studios.

The horror genre is slowly coming back to haunt Kollywood. Recently ‘Maya’ made more profits and that success has paid way to more horror movies. But the horror genre was paused for a moment as ‘Vedalam’ took whole Kollywood by storm.

Now the next set of horror movies is ready to release. The first movie to lead the pack is Sowkarpettai. This is also a horror comedy. The movie features Srikanth and Raai Laxmi in lead roles. Vivek, Saravanan, Sampath Raj, Suman, Kovai Sarala, Vadivukkarasi, Singam Puli are part of the cast.

John Peter scores tunes and the movie is funded by John Max and Jones together under the banner Shalom Studios. ‘Thambi Vettothi Sundaram’ fame Vadivudaiyaan shapes the venture. The movie has two lyric writers namely Na.Muthu Kumar and Viveka.

Apart from Tamil, the movie will also be releasing as ‘Begum Beta’ in Telugu and ‘Tantra Shakthi’ in Hindi. Trend Music already has the Audio rights. Thenandal Films owns the distribution rights. The distributors now feel this is the right time to release Sowkarpettai. The movie will hit screens on 27th of November.
