SS Rajamouli felicitated with the CNN-News18 ‘Indian of the Year’ 2015 award for his contribution to the field of cinema.
The bosses of CNN News 18 held the 10th edition of Indian of the year and the ceremony was attended by several dignitaries from politics, sports, entertainment and business. Union Minister Arun Jaitley, Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, Ranveer Singh, Sania Mirza, Mahesh Bhupathi and SS Rajamouli and Chinmayi Sripada were among some celebs, who graced the occasion.
As per source, After being honored with the prestigious ‘Padmasri’ award, now Rajamouli is in a race to bag another coveted honor. Rajamouli has been nominated as one of the contenders to bag the ‘Indian of the Year’ Award in the Entertainment category to be presented by CNN-IBN channel annually.
The jury felt that it was Baahubali director who deserved this award more than anyone else. Rajamouli beat other fellow nominees like Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to win this prestigious award which is given every year for those who contribute to Indian cinema in every way.
Apart from them, various other personalities from different fields including Sania Mirza, Leander Paes from sports; Bandhan Financial Services in business; and the people of Chennai, who tackled the floods in their state, in the public service category, were awarded different awards.
