Hyderabad: As per latest reports, students of Osmania University prefers state govt services rather than getting for UPSC jobs.
Students of Osmania University prefer Telangana Govt jobs rather than UPSC posts. They are looking for new notifications by the Government and leaving no stones behind to get a good job. While attendance in regular classes in OU is usually thin, the classes conducted by the Equal Opportunities Cell (EOC) of the university are observing good attendance.
This year, 4,600 students have enrolled into various classes conducted by the EOC to provide coaching in subjects listed in syllabus for Group I and II by the Telangana State Public Service Commission. For this, 87 teachers have been initiated. Classes are also conducted for exams the state government conducts to fill vacancies in departments like police, Panchayati Raj and legal services.
More than 300 students attending these classes got placed for positions like sub-inspectors, assistant public prosecutors, child development project officers and village revenue officers since the cell’s establishment in 2012.
However, students from Osmania are yet to make a mark in the All India Services (AIS). Since 2012, just two students who took coaching in EOC classes cracked the UPSC tests.
University officials say that students from OU are not showing much interest in central services due to lack of communication skills. Manavata Roy, a student activist from OU says, “Few students from OU show interest in central services and focus all their energies on state services. The university may strengthen its efforts to encourage them try for central services which have more openings every year.
