Indian Nurse Subadhra Devi Rai Wins International Achievement Award

Singapore: Subabhra Devi Rai (51) won 2015 International Achievement Award by the International Council of Nurses’ Florence Nightingale International Foundation.

She is extending her services as a senior lecturer at the School of Health Sciences (Nursing) at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP).

The organization was started in the year of 1999, since than Rai, 51 year old woman is the first Singaporean for being awarded the biennial prize.

The prestigious award will be felicitated to her on 21st June, 2015 at a conference in Seoul.

Rai – In Past

She has started her career in Singapore.

She worked in an intensive care unit by following general nurse training.

She also worked in Edmonton Centre for Survivors of Torture and Trauma, Canada in 1997.

Then she began to focus on health issues concerning women and refugees.

For her dedication in nursing many people, she has been selected from the nominees came from whole world.

Judith Shamian, the president of the International Council of Nurses and the Florence Nightingale International Foundation said, “Rai was selected from a pool of nominees worldwide for her dedication in providing nursing care to vulnerable populations since the beginning of her career”.

She also added, “Her special focus on issues such as gender-based violence, sexual health and reintegration of refugees is particularly topical”.
