Tamilnadu Govt Announces Tax Exemption for Dubbed Movies

Chennai: Business Tax minister M.C.Sampath of Tamilnadu government announced that all dubbed movies from now onwards will get tax exemption.

Kollywood is recently making Tamil titles just to get the benefit of Tax exemption. Tamilnadu government made a rule by which movies which have a clean Tamil title and if the movie conveys a good message to the nation, 30% tax exemption will be provided.

But this is not the case for dubbed movies. They never get any tax exemption. Be it Telugu or English dubbed projects. According to a source, 60 to 80 dubbed movies release each year. Most of them taste success too. But no tax exemption is provided for these movies.

A case was lodged against this and Chennai High court today made an announcement that dubbed movies can never be forced to pay taxes and they also come under tax exemption category if they abide the rules. So Tamil Nadu Government made announcement that all dubbed movies will also have Tax exemption.

This announcement was made by Business Tax minister M.C.Sampath. It has to be noted that Hollywood movies like ‘Avengers : Age of Ultron’ , ‘Fast and Furious 7’ made more profits than small budget Tamil movies.
