Hyderabad, July 9: The Govt of Telangana is in a plan to sanction 1000 acres land near at Maheshwaram, to push up the demand for electronics.
Telangana state is one of the largest mobile handset markets, as per information every day around 7.2 lakh mobiles are retailed across the country and it is approximately 65 million for every quarter. So, the state government is intended to cash this with a setup of manufacturing units across 1000 acres near at Maheshwaram.

These local facilities will result in lower cost and eases logistics”. He also added that “state government is in touch with several companies through Indian Cellular Association (ICA). Currently the electronic hardware industry is worth Rs.6,000 crore of which exports include Rs.12,000 crore. We believe that the electronic hardware industry in the state can grow significantly”.
Recently, domestic mobile handset maker Celkon has been announced that will set up its first assembly plant at Medchal with Rs.200 crore investments. Similarly one more mobile handset maker Micromax is also expected to set up an assembly plant with Rs.500 crore investments in Hyderabad and the agreement regarding set up is likely to be signed by the state government shortly.
Rajesh Agarwal co-founder of Micromax has said that “Our second plant will be set up at Hyderabad which will help us to supply our products to southern markets and also can expand our exports to Asian and African countries”.
Last month ICA signed for an agreement with the state government to develop an electronics industrial ecosystem. More multi-national mobile handset makers are expected to set up a production base in the city.
