Telangana: TS government is planning a supply of seven hours power to farms with the implementation of Telangana Solar Power Policy and projects related to it.
Telangana Government is planning to supply seven hours of power to farms through solar projects. It is said that an action plan will be submitted to government for 7 hours of solar and two hours of thermal power to agricultural fields. A senior officer of Telangana energy department said “Agriculture pump sets needed to be replaced with solar ones by the Rabi season. For this, we would like to use the Rs. 500 crore loans given by Power Finance Corporation, but this needs ratification from the government,”
TS Government has informed Central power ministry to get actual power position for the proposed 24×7 PFA scheme and declared that converting all pump sets into solar ones is really a big task. According to statistics, in the year 2015-16 agriculture consumption expected for about 7,528 million units. In order to generate solar power, recently government started solar projects with a generation capacity of 550 MW.
He invited tenders for purchase of 2,000 MW solar powers and arranged a district wise ceiling. The ceiling for each district is as follows
Nalgonda – 600 MW
Medak – 500 MW
Other districts – 400 MW each except Ranga Reddy
Recently the government approved tariff for solar power, but several companies started that it cannot meet their expenses. They demand rate of Rs. 7 per KWH. A pre-bid meeting will be arranged on 10th April 2015 with prospective bidders at the TSSPDCL office to gather all discoms.
