Bengaluru: Twitter Inc has increased direct messages limit from 140 to 10,000 and it continues to have 140 character limits on public messages Tweets.

Twitter users now can send a direct message to others up to 10,000 characters at a time. One of the largest social networking site Twitter lifted its character limit for direct messages between users to make the private side of Twitter more powerful and fun. As a results, from now onwards private messages will no longer have the 140 characters limit but it applies for public conversations.

As a result, now users can chat on in a single direct message and it expected to have some characters left over. The Micro blogging site Twitter can allow the private messages up to 10,000 characters in its mobile apps, desktop apps and the web. This service can also work in any other third-party apps like Tweetbot.

The company recently introduced Group Direct Messages, where multiple numbers of users can share their private messages, and now it extended the limit of direct messages from 140 to 10,000. However, as per company norms mobile web users will only be able to receive large message, they cannot send and the large message can be divided into multiple messages.

Micro Blogging site Twitter has around 300 million users across the World. The company recently added four Indian Regional languages including Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil to attract more number of users from India and is expected to have more than 22 million users in India in 2015 and expecting over 40 million users by 2018.
