Popular dancer and veteran item girl Jyothi Lakshmi has been passed away in Chennai due to health problems. She is well known for item songs and skimpy outfits in Old Telugu movies. Recently she has also appeared in latest Telugu movie for an item song. Veteran actress has been passed away in Chennai today morning. She was suffering from illness for a while.

Jyothi Lakshmi started her career as a child artist. Later she got many opportunities as a heroine. Especially she is popular for item songs. She made her debut with Periya Idathu Penn in 1963. She was popular for special songs, sexy item songs and lead roles in many films in 1970’s. She had worked in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam and few Bollywood movies. She is well-known person for Hindi audiences. In Hindi, she has appeared in Pistolwali. Rani Aur Jaani and Jawab.

After her sister Jayamalini entry into film industry, her popularity decreased from1980’s. Recently Puri Jagannath had named his film as Jyothi Lakshmi string Charmi in lead role. Though the film is not related to the veteran sexy actress, but it has shown her popularity. May her soul rest in peace.
