Prominent Director Mani Ratnam’s wife and once a lead Heroine, Suhasini seems to be unhappy with the present day situations for Heroines and their careers because of the roles offered to them. She thinks that the present generation Heroines is confined to glamour roles and item songs.

The characterization and the length of the role offered to present day heroines is of less importance when compared with olden day’s heroines. The talent of the olden days heroines was fully utilized and exploited by the film industry by offering them with women-related subjects. To the prevailing conditions, the present generation actresses are also not so much focused and seem to be serious for demanding their roles in the male dominant film industry, especially in the south.

She appreciated Bollywood for offering women oriented roles and the industry for encouraging the talent’s of Actresses like Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut. She is pleased for the writers and directors who are focusing on the roles for women.

She commented that during 1970-1980 period the films has encouraged women talent and she feels lucky for the same. She also named Radhika, Revathi, Saritha and herself to be lucky to be present in that generation where the writers portrayed roles for them specially. She also challenged the quality of the work of present day heroines when compared to them. She continued by saying that present actresses are more worried about their remunerations and the comforts they get rather than the roles and the subject.
