Mumbai: Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has got a honour, she has been invited as chief guest in the 21st Kolkata International Film Festival along with Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Mamata Banerjee.
Vidya Balan who is a Bollywood actress recently grabbed headlines by stating that she won’t return any awards. The actress was last seen in the movie ‘Bobby Jasoos’ and recent release was ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’. Now the actress was honoured to be the chief guest in the 21st Kolkata International Film Festival.
The Kolkata International Film Festival was founded in the year 1995 and every year it happens at Kolkata. This year Vidya Balan has been invited as the special guest. Other honorary guests were Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.
As per sources, West Bengal’s Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Festival director has invited Vidya Balan in person. The festival will host its 2nd International Competition by ‘Woman Directors’ Films’.
Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan will also attend the opening ceremony at the Netaji indoor stadium. A spokes person from the festival said, “Vidya Balan is undoubtedly the darling of Kolkata. Her interest and knowledge of cinema has been phenomenal.”
