Shamkir, Azerbaijan: Viswanathan Anand, former and a five-time world champion played out an effortless draw against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and stood at second in Shamkir Chess tournament that was held on Sunday.
He is at a way back to the 2800 rating club and ranked for World 2 position after a draw with Fabiano Caruana belonging to Italy. On other hand, Magnus Carlsen of Norway won over Rauf Mamedov of Azerbaijan mistake and became world champion with this tournament victory. The tally of seven points and gaps between him and the rest are discussed after the tournament.
After long time, with the entry into 2800 rating club, Anand is to play in World 2 position where Carlsen got a rating of 2875. The makeover of the game finally resulted in five win and drew four for Carlsen where Anand won three and drew six games in the super tournament.
