June, 25: Facebook has announced a new security tool to detect and remove malicious software for Facebook users, for this the team has teamed up with Kaspersky Lab.

Social networking giant Facebook recently announced hidden face recognition tool and now revealed one more useful tool, announced that the team is working on a new security tool which will help its users in detecting and removing malware software from their computers. To develop this new tool the team is teamed up with the security software firm Kaspersky along with all other security firm like ESET, F-Secure and Trend Micro.

Facebook security engineer, Trevor Pottinger said that “we developed a new tool, where more than two million people can clean up their computers and with this they can stay away from malwares when they connected to Facebook. To develop this tool we worked together with Kaspersky Lab, ESET, F-Secure and Trend Micro. We are very thankful to all these companies for their support since past three months”.

As per details, this new tool runs in the background while using Facebook and the user get a notification when the scan is complete to show what it found.

As per Pottinger, Facebook mainly aimed this tool for phishers, and it uses combination of signals to help to detect infections and get malware off computer even if the malware does not send any spam or harmful links. More information is expected to be provided in the coming weeks.
