Mumbai, June 22: Maharashtra Government has announced Rs. 1 lakh relief fund for Malvani hooch tragedy victim families. Relief to provide on Monday from PM fund.

Maharashtra state government has declared the Rs. 1 lakh compensation for hooch victim’s family and the relief fund will be provided from the chief ministers funds on Monday. Vinod Tawde, guardian minister of the Mumbai Suburb district has announced aide after visiting the victim’s family in Malad. He announced that the state government will also try to provide the employment for any of the member of victim’s family.

The hooch tragedy was occurred at Laxmi Nagar slum near Gamdevi Jurassic park in Malvani in Suburban Malad on 17th June, 2015 night and it is the worst hooch tragedy in Mumbai in a decade. As per reports the victims consumed liquor at a shop in Malvani, in the next morning they fell sick and it was declared that they had consumed polluted liquor.

Till now the death rate was increased to 97 and more 40 were battling with their life in private and government hospitals at Mumbai. Meanwhile the Mumbai police have started investigation on illegal liquor dens in the city and arrested 35 people in multiple raids.

Police arrested the six people on charges of selling the polluted liquor in Malvani and sent to custody till 26th June. And eight police officers and four excise department officials have also been suspended on charges of carelessness and involvement.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis asked the Mumbai police to submit report as soon as possible and the case has been transferred to the Mumbai crime branch.
