India, July 3: Nationwide Mobile Number Portability (NMNP) Inter-State that allows mobile phone customers to use their number even after shifting from one state to other in India.

Shifting from one place to other is easier, but changing number, gathering all friends, relatives every time is not that easy task. To overcome this situation, Mobile Number services such as Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, etc. started implementation of Inter-State Mobile Number Portability service for customers who shift from one place to other.

From now, the mobile subscribers can retain their existing number by changing service provider of State that they go for staying. Rakesh Garg, chairman, telecom commission and secretary, Department of Telecommunications, mobile service providers said that this service will be available to users from today, July 3.

Within the same Telecom circle, one can switch their number easily at any place in India. Earlier, it was decided to launch this on May 3, but it is delayed. The postponement is due to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) who acquired for DoT extension. All technical issues are solved by the mobile operators and the NMNP has been launched for convenience of users.

It is said that MNP is launched in India between all states along with some additional features like faster processing porting requests, free incoming on roaming, balance transfers and carry forward options, etc.

In a meeting, Bharti Airtel, said, “With our complete readiness to launch national mobile number portability, we aim to empower customers enabling them to retain this identity as they move across anywhere in the country”.

All mobile phone service providers are updating themselves with this process. And they are now ready to provide this service to all their users.
