Mumbai: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan spoke at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards about the growing intolerance in the country.
Aamir Khan recently came to the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards. During that he joined the debate on the growing ‘intolerance’ and he said about the number of incidents where he and his wife Kiran Rao decided to leave the country.
While speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards, Aamir said, “As an individual and as a citizen we know what is happening around us and we also see it through news. I can’t deny the fact that I have not been alarmed. Lots of incidents have been alarming.
The sense of fear and insecurity is rising each day. When I chat with my spouse Kiran, she used to say, ‘Should we step out of India?’ This is a disastrous and big statement for Kiran. But her fears for her child are legit. This is the atmosphere around us.
She gets scared to open newspapers every day.” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has supported Aamir Khan’s statement. He tweeted, “BJP shud stop silencing voices thro abuses n threats. Its high time centrl govt took concrete steps 2 instil sense of security amngst people.”
