Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India will receive Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour 27th March of this year. He is going to be in the winners list.
President Pranab Mukherjee will visit the ailing 90-year-old veteran BJP leader and confer the award as per the rules of the government.
It is well known that in December only, the Central government announced the prestigious award for Vajpayee and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya, now it’s the time to issue them without any failure.
Vajpayee will receive it tomorrow and Madan Mohan Malviya on March 31.
Bharat Ratna is bestowed to 45 members so far in which 11 were awarded posthumously. It was instituted on 2nd January, 1954.
At the prior time, it was limited to arts, literature, science and public services achievements. Later in 2011, the criterion was expanded to accommodate any field of human endeavour in the society of India.
