Mumbai: Six persons were arrested on Thursday, 23rd April for apparently sexually abusing a woman among which 3 are policemen (two assistant police inspectors and head constable) and others are common persons.

 As per police statement, on 21st April, a 29-year-old model had sent a message to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, complaining about her sexual exploitation by some men. Among these six persons three are policemen including two assistant police inspectors and head constable of city police. Three policemen are identified as API Khatape, Suryavanshi and constable Kode. It is reported that they apparently forced around Rs. 5 lakh from the victim.

TOI report said that “The complainant has said that her friend in the middle of night went to residence, even withdrew cash from different ATMs and managed to get Rs. 4.35 lakh. While the victim was alone in the custody, the accused policemen allegedly molested her.”

As per victim statement Commissioner Maria forwarded the complaint to MIDC police station and that was registered under the section rape case 376 sections, 354 sexual harassment, 384 extortion and other related sections.

Dhananjay Kulkarni, PRO of Mumbai Police said that police arrested the six people along with woman. It is said that case will be investigated by crime branch and it will be handled by the Assistant Commissioner of Police as per Commissioner Maria’s instructions.
