Health minister V.S. Sivakumar started Poojappura Ayurveda Hospital for Women and Children to find developmental disorders in children, autism, mental retardation, etc.

Health minister V.S. Sivakumar said that ayurveda treatment will be started for developmental disorders in children, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

He noted that this treatment will be made available at Ayurveda hospitals that are major in the State.

Many essential steps will be taken to strengthen the paediatric wing in Ayurveda hospitals that are considered as popular.

A scheme for providing Ayurveda treatment for developmental disorders in children has been launched in the state. This mission was started in the Poojappura Ayurveda Hospital for Women and Children, under the Government Ayurveda College.

The project has been launched on Thursday with the support of the district panchyat.

A screening program for knowing the disorders in children has also been launched by the health minister yesterday. Completely 103 children were screened in which 60 were detected positive for cerebral palsy, 5 with hyperactive, 5 for Down’s Syndrome, 26 with autism, 7 as mental retarded.

The Distrct panchayat president, Ansajitha Russel gave complete support to the team of health minister and presided over the function.

V.S. Sivakumar, the Health Minister stated that essential steps will be taken to strengthen paediatric wing in Ayurveda hospitals at the meeting during the inauguration.
