Bangladesh Ferry Accident in Picture

In Bangladesh, a double-decker ferry sank in the river over there as it was hit by a cargo vessel on the mid-time of Sunday according to the witnesses and police. The passengers on the lower deck of that ferry may have been snitched inside without any way. They said that this was happened because of the heavy passenger load in the ferry.

The assistant general manager of Bangladesh to the Inland Water Transport Authority, Zillur Rahman told to BSS which is an agency of state wide news, “We have already recovered 68 bodies and rescued around 100 people. Of the deceased, seven were children, including a 7-month-old baby girl.”

The boat was packed when it overturned on the Padma River in the Manikganj district north of the capital, Dhaka, local police Chief Bidhan Tripura said. Many of those rescued were passengers on the upper deck who jumped into the river.

The deputy commissioner of Manikganj, Rashida Ferdouse, told CNN it is unclear how many passengers were on the ferry. She claimed, “Usually the ferry operators don’t keep any records, and we came to know from survivors that there were more than 100 people on board.” She continued, “At least seven children and 14 women were among the dead.”

The head of the district’s administration, Ferdouse said that the officials had allowed a certified center on the banks of that river and asked over the people to say the names of their missing family members. She proclaimed that they had arranged a group of 5 people committee to inspect the mishap.

Earlier, there was another brutal ferry accident on this river itself in the month of August. About 45 people expired in that accident. Excess numbers of ferries and very bad monitoring systems are the major issues in Bangladesh that which views many wounded from ferry accidents in each year.
